Gerald Sanford is a US Navy veteran, retired New York City firefighter, and author of the book It Started with a Helmet. In this episode Jerry reflects on his time as a fireman during the civil unrest in Harlem in the 1970’s, being in New York City during September 11th, 2001, and his relationships with some of the men who gave their life that day.
